First broadcast on Das Erste in September 1995, it filled overnight programme slots with forward-facing views and the sounds of the train, without a presenter, commentary or music. Broadcast sections varied in length. Related editions used the titles Die schönsten Bahnstrecken Europas and Die schönsten Bahnstrecken der Welt.
