A little help with creating, sharing and managing your lists. Choose a topic below or open a question to read more.
Sign in and open Create List. Give your list a title, choose a category, and pick Items or Images. You can also choose who can see it, whether others can suggest items, and how the items are sorted.
Your new list starts as a draft. Add your items, then publish when you are happy with it. For tips on making your list stand out, see Getting Started.
Choose Items for things like books or films. Each item has a title, and you can add a description and picture. Choose Images for a gallery where the pictures take centre stage. Either way, pick the category that best fits your list.
Yes. Every new list starts as a draft, giving you time to add items and get it ready. Unpublished drafts are deleted 30 days after creation. Editing does not extend this deadline; publish before it expires to keep your list. Only you can view your draft until you publish it, even if you chose Public or Unlisted when creating it.
Yes. You can change your list's title and description, add or remove items, and change their order. You can also edit items you created. If someone else contributed an item, its title, description and image stay theirs to edit. Copied items keep their original content and cannot be edited.
Choose Unlisted when you want to share a list by sending its link. Anyone with the link can view it, but it will not appear in Explore, search results or your public profile. Once published, you can find it on your account page.
Keep in mind that the link can be passed on to other people. If you turn on Allow copying, someone with the link can also copy your list and make their copy public.
You can add up to 100 items to an unlisted list and have up to 50 unlisted lists on your account. Unlisted drafts count towards that limit too. A public list can hold up to 10,000 items.
Yes. Open Edit on your list page, choose Unlisted, then save. The list needs to have 100 items or fewer, and you need space within your limit of 50 unlisted lists.
Switching from Public to Unlisted turns Allow copying off. You can turn it back on before saving if you are happy for others to copy the list and potentially make their copy public.
They get their own draft with copies of your list's items in the same order. The copy is independent of your list and keeps each item's creator credited. Likes, votes and other counts start at zero. Comments stay on the original list.
They can change their list's details, add or remove items, and arrange them how they like. They cannot change a copied item's title, description or image. Your list stays as it is, and changes you make later will not be carried over to their copy.
Yes. Turn off Allow copying when creating or editing your list to stop others using its Copy button. It starts on for new public lists and switches off when you change from Public to Unlisted. You can always copy your own lists, including drafts.
We recommend allowing copies so others can build on your ideas while keeping the original creators credited. Someone could still recreate a list manually, but using Copy keeps that credit in place.
No. Deleting the original list or an item from it does not remove copies that already exist. Each copy is a separate list, so the person who copied it can keep working on their version.
Yes. If you created an item, you can remove an individual copy of it from someone else's list through My Items. Deleting your account also removes all items credited to you, including copies on other lists.
Select Copy to open your new draft. Use Edit to change the list's title, description or visibility. Add or remove items and arrange them how you like, then publish when you are ready. Each copied item still shows who created it.
Sign in and select Contribute on a published list that accepts contributions. Check any rules the owner has set, then add your item. The owner reviews it before it appears on the list. The alert above the list's items opens My Contributions, where you can view your pending or rejected submissions. Approved items appear on the list; My Items on your account page lets you manage items across all lists.
Choose Everyone under Contribution when creating or editing your list. When contributions arrive, the alert above your list's items shows how many are waiting. Select Review in the alert to approve an item as it is, or reject it. You can include a reason to help the contributor; only they can see it. The item's creator stays responsible for editing its content.
Yes. Open My Items to edit or delete something you contributed. If the owner rejected your item, you can make changes and submit it again.
Editing an approved item takes it off the list while the owner reviews your changes. It appears again if they approve it.
Yes. From your list's review page, you can block a contributor or manage existing blocks. A block only applies to that list: the person can no longer suggest new items or edit their contributions there. Their existing items and suggestions stay, and they can still delete their own items. You can unblock them at any time.
You can upload JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP images, up to 10 MB per image. Add a cover picture to your list, pictures to individual items, or choose Images when creating your list to make a gallery. Please use pictures you own or have permission to share.
Yes. We keep versions up to 4K, or 4,000 pixels on the longest side, without stretching the picture. Images that start smaller are not enlarged. We also make smaller versions so pages load quickly. Uploaded images are optimised, so keep your original file if you want an unchanged copy.
Start with the message shown by the uploader. Check that your image is in a supported format and no bigger than 10 MB. Damaged files, images over 50 megapixels and content restrictions can also cause a problem. If your connection dropped, try again once you are back online.
Yes. Choose User Order to arrange items yourself, or choose a sort such as title, date added or votes. The options depend on your list's category and type. Your choice sets the order visitors see first. They can try a different sort without changing your list's default.
Once your list is published, use its Share section to copy the link or share it on social media. People can also discover public lists through Explore. For an unlisted list, send the link to the people you want to share it with, and remember they can pass it on.
