Notes from Underground

An 1864 novella by Fyodor Dostoevsky. A fictional retired civil servant presents an argumentative monologue and recounts encounters from his earlier life in St Petersburg. The work is also published in English as Notes from the Underground. Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky translated the English edition pictured here.
