Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

There is almost always a clear place for your eye to go, even when the screen is packed with vehicles, bodies and dust. That clarity makes the action exhilarating rather than merely large. It also leaves you able to notice who is controlling the supplies and who is being treated as property. The chase is a whole social world in motion. Its spectacle matters because escape would mean changing the terms on which people are allowed to live. A particularly exciting first stop for anyone who wants to see action carry a serious idea without stopping to explain itself.
