The detectives' habits and frustrations gradually become as revealing as the crimes they investigate. Bong Joon-ho shifts between awkward humour and mounting dread without making either feel decorative. See it for a police story whose force lies in uncertainty, institutional failure and the uncomfortable distance between confidence and actual knowledge.
