The Truman Show (1998)
Movie
Released
Jim Carrey's warmth makes the growing wrongness of Truman's tidy seaside world genuinely painful. The premise is easy to grasp, but the film opens larger questions about consent, entertainment and the comfort of a life arranged for you. Its central conflict feels especially vivid in a culture of constant self-broadcasting.
