Jurassic Park (1993)
Movie
Released
The first sight of the dinosaurs works because wonder has been carefully prepared, not simply switched on. Spielberg keeps the geography and human reactions clear when that wonder becomes danger. An especially rewarding blockbuster to revisit if you want to understand how anticipation and restraint make spectacle feel enormous.
