Fleabag (2016)

Twelve short episodes make room for more intimacy than many long-running dramas manage. Phoebe Waller-Bridge's sideways looks initially recruit you into a London woman's sharp, defensive humour, then expose what that closeness conceals. It is sexually frank and threaded with grief, but the reason to try it is how precisely a joke can become an admission.
