Breaking Bad (2008)

A chemistry teacher's turn towards making meth is compelling less as a transformation trick than as an extended argument about the stories people tell themselves. Small decisions accumulate until the consequences become impossible to separate. The violence and mounting cruelty are substantial, but the tightly connected plotting makes this an unusually absorbing long commitment.
