The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

The story moves briskly enough to carry you past miniature jokes in the décor, uniforms and choreography. Returning lets you follow Gustave's elaborate manners through a world that rarely deserves them, and appreciate the supporting performers' different comic temperatures. The nested storytelling also gives familiar scenes a more wistful edge: the beautiful surface is part of what the film is remembering.
