The Yorkshire Ripper Files: A Very British Crime Story (2019)

Liza Williams re-examines the investigation through attitudes to the women affected and the assumptions directing police work. The emphasis shifts away from a killer's supposed mystique towards whose testimony was valued. It offers a particularly useful account of how social prejudice can shape the interpretation of evidence, with the women and surrounding communities kept in view.
