The Brokenwood Mysteries (2014)

A New Zealand town supplies eccentric residents, dry humour and substantial cases that have time to develop. Mike Shepherd's unshowy manner is an appealing contrast to a flamboyant genius detective. The episodes are feature-length, so this is an entire evening's investigation rather than a quick bedtime instalment.
