Vida (2018)

Two sisters return to their mother's East Los Angeles bar and discover that her queer life complicates the family story they knew. The opening grief matters, but so do sex, neighbourhood loyalties, business decisions and friendships. Its appeal is that queer women have a place in a vivid working community, with desires and faults that extend beyond educating anybody.
