My Brilliant Friend (2018)

Elena and Lila's bond changes as education, marriage, work and class create very different possibilities. Neither admiration nor rivalry can fully explain what keeps drawing them back. This is the demanding dramatic choice, with violence and hardship woven through its long history, rewarding viewers who want friendship examined across a lifetime rather than one agreeable summer.
