The Shield (2002)

A corrupt police team's early decisions keep generating obligations they cannot simply outrun. The final reckoning is persuasive because the series has spent so long showing how the machinery works. Its violence and sexual brutality are severe. This is worth the hours for sustained consequence, not for an invitation to excuse the charisma of an abusive lead.
