The Orville (2017)

Bridge duties coexist with awkward relationships, career disappointments and colleagues who cannot stop being themselves at work. The ship's uneven competence becomes more interesting as the series takes its assignments seriously. Its broad early comedy is a hurdle, but the ensemble gradually acquires the texture of a familiar department.
