The Leftovers (2014)

Choose this for emotional resolution rather than a definitive explanation of the world's central disappearance. The ending understands that what people can live with may matter more than what they can prove. The first season is especially bleak. Its final intimacy feels earned through the series' sustained attention to grief, belief and the risk of trusting somebody else's account.
