Shameless (2004)

The original 2004 Manchester series gives the Gallagher children appetite, ingenuity and agency inside circumstances that repeatedly narrow their choices. Its early family-centred stories are the best starting point. The outrageous behaviour is entertaining in itself, while care, paid work and the shortage of dependable adults make the class pressures concrete.
