Boarders (2024)

Five Black scholarship pupils enter an elite school that wants the reputational benefit of their presence without necessarily welcoming their perspectives. Daniel Lawrence Taylor makes the individual ambitions and bad decisions matter alongside the institutional satire. The humour works because the students are not interchangeable examples, and fitting in is only one of several things they might want.
