The Last of Us (2023)

Joel and Ellie's journey repeatedly tests whether protecting one person can coexist with responsibility to others. Encounters with households and settlements give the devastated world different possible futures. It is very violent and emotionally punishing, yet its strongest episodes make care and ordinary companionship feel worth the risk.
