Aliens (1986)
Movie
Released
Alien's controlled nightmare remains hard to beat on its own terms. Aliens earns the preference by changing the question: how does Ripley live with surviving it? Her connection with Newt makes the siege personal, while the marines' confidence supplies a brittle group dynamic for the creatures to break. The theatrical cut is the brisker introduction; the longer Special Edition gives more background at the cost of some early momentum.
