Enlightened (2011)

Amy Jellicoe can recognise a genuine institutional wrong and still make being near her extraordinarily difficult. Laura Dern's performance keeps a desire for meaning attached to self-absorption, need and moments of real courage. It is a thoughtful, uncomfortable choice if you enjoy a comedy that lets you agree with somebody's cause while questioning their account of their own role.
