Leaving an unsuitable marriage does not make Donna and her friends instantly wise about the next decision. Their attraction, resentment and avoidance generate a sharp comedy of adult mess. The women are allowed to be unpleasant without the programme withdrawing its interest in them. Choose it for friction and recognisable self-justification rather than a reassuring reinvention story.
