Mark and Jeremy each believe the other is the main obstacle to becoming the person he deserves to be. Their internal commentary exposes how quickly principle becomes a justification for comfort, status or sex. It is cruel and deeply uncomfortable. The insight lies in recognising an excuse before either man is prepared to admit he has made one.
