The Wire (2002)

Baltimore becomes legible through connected systems: the street trade, port, schools, politics and newspaper each change what people can do. A corner or a vacant house is part of an economy rather than generic crime scenery. Choose it when you want to understand a drama's city gradually, accepting a large cast, a demanding start and sustained violence.
