Dexter (2006)

Dexter's voice-over offers a tidy account of his rules and supposed emotional limitations. Other people, and his own choices, keep making that account less comfortable. The original series is the entry here, rather than the later continuations. Its appeal is the uneasy intimacy of hearing a killer explain himself, with graphic violence and an uneven long run attached.
