Past Lives (2023)

Celine Song gives Nora's reunion with a childhood friend emotional weight without pretending an unrealised life is automatically a better one. Greta Lee's divided attention is the drama. The precise handling of pauses and conversation makes this an unusually assured debut about migration and choice.
