Best Picture, 1995 ceremony.
The procession through recognisable historical events is my repeat-viewing obstacle. Once those encounters are familiar, their cleverness can interrupt relationships that deserve more time, especially Jenny's compressed, harder life. Tom Hanks's directness and Gary Sinise's prickly presence retain their feeling. There is affection to return to, alongside a long itinerary with fewer surprises left to offer.
