Katha (1982)

The contrast between patient work and effortless self-promotion is played out in a busy chawl. Farooque Shaikh's charm is deliberately dangerous, while Naseeruddin Shah makes reserve expressive. The comedy is sharpest when the neighbours' attention becomes something the characters have to compete for.
