Eyes Wide Shut (1999)

Stanley Kubrick makes a married couple's ordinary confidence increasingly unstable through controlled movement, repetition and nocturnal space. Tom Cruise's uncertainty is a useful centre for the ritualised encounters. Its explicit sexual material serves a troubling inquiry into what intimacy can know.
