Gilmore Girls (2000)

Stars Hollow's meetings, shops and annual events give almost every private decision an audience. The pleasure is recognising how a minor resident's habits alter an exchange, rather than treating the town as scenery for Lorelai and Rory. Its rapid dialogue and cosy surface coexist with family and class tensions. Choose the original series first; the later revival is a separate return.
