The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)

Martin McDonagh begins with an abruptly ended friendship and lets the refusal to explain it become destructive. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson make a tiny island dispute feel both absurd and grievous. The film earns its position through a fable-like structure grounded in recognisable wounded pride.
