Ergo Proxy (2006)

A controlled domed city and the damaged world outside offer competing ideas of what survival has preserved. Artificial beings make the question of personhood physically present. Its gothic atmosphere is immediately legible, while its philosophical detours and deliberately withheld information ask for more patience than a straightforward dystopian pursuit.
