Arcane (2021)

Painted surfaces, expressive faces and abrupt bursts of graphic abstraction make arguments as visually specific as fights. The divided city's contrasting spaces keep class differences visible. Fortiche's work is a reason to look closely, while the sisters' damaged relationship supplies a sustained story even for viewers who have never played the game.
