Distant (2002)

Nuri Bilge Ceylan places two cousins together in Istanbul, where one man's wish to leave and the other's disappointments sharpen their differences. The spaces and silences make loneliness tangible. Its patient observation gives this ranking a drama that accumulates force through small failures of hospitality.
