Memories of Murder (2003)

Bong Joon-ho makes a serial-murder investigation a study of failing institutions, with comic absurdity continually turning into frustration. Song Kang-ho's detective cannot master the world through force or intuition. The changing balance of procedure, landscape and uncertainty gives this Korean thriller lasting force.
