Dogville (2003)

Lars von Trier places a community's exploitation of a fugitive inside an openly artificial stage world. The missing walls make watching cruelty feel uncomfortably public. Nicole Kidman's Grace gives the conceit a human centre, though the sexual violence and severity make this a demanding choice.
