Oldboy (2003)

Park Chan-wook turns a man's search for the reason behind his imprisonment into a tightly controlled exercise in perspective and revenge. Choi Min-sik's physical performance gives the elaborate design weight. This Korean film leads the ranking for its formal command, with severe violence and sexual material integral to the experience.
