Freaks and Geeks (1999)

Lindsay's attempt to find a different crowd does not make her old world or her brother's troubles disappear. The 1999 ensemble gives a failed evening enough detail to be funny and humiliating in several different ways. Its one season has a satisfying sense of movement despite the cancellation. More time would have meant watching people change, rather than simply extending a cliffhanger.
