Scavengers Reign (2023)

Vesta's living systems can be beautiful, useful and horrifying at once. The stranded crew's attempts to understand them make the animation feel like exploration rather than a sequence of familiar monsters. The first season has meaningful arcs, so it is worth watching without treating every unanswered question as damage. The cancellation and unsuccessful continuation hopes left an unusually rich world with room still to explore.
