Alexander Kmentt

Kmentt helped develop the humanitarian initiative behind the nuclear prohibition treaty and chaired its first meeting of states parties in 2022. The resulting Vienna Action Plan moved discussion towards practical implementation, including assistance for people affected by nuclear weapons. His contribution illustrates the work after adoption: a prohibition needs institutions, priorities and continued cooperation before it can deliver on its ambitions.
