The horror film being worked on stays largely unseen; screams and the wet crushing of vegetables make you supply its images. Watching Toby Jones's timid sound technician manufacture those effects creates an uneasy split between the harmless object on the table and the violence you imagine. Joakim Sundström's sound work makes that split feel increasingly unstable. It is a fine choice for anyone curious about how cinema can make an innocent noise acquire a gruesome meaning.
