Handmade in Africa (2020)
TV Show
First aired
A Senegalese kora, an Ethiopian Dorze house and Kenyan Maasai beadwork provide three distinct scales of patient making. The hands, materials and surrounding community receive room alongside the finished object. People explain their work, so the stillness comes from attention rather than total silence. The kora film is a good choice when the gradual assembly of a useful, resonant thing is enough of a story.
