The Club (2021)

A Sephardic Jewish mother rebuilding her relationship with her daughter finds work in a 1950s Istanbul nightclub. Backstage loyalties make the period setting a lived workplace as well as a source of music and style. The streaming-length episodes are a practical entry point, with prejudice and political pressure giving the warmth of the ensemble a substantial cost.
