The emergency department's shift-length structure makes a delayed handover, an unavailable bed or a conversation with relatives part of the continuing pressure. Katherine LaNasa's charge nurse Dana gives the floor an organising intelligence beyond the lead doctor's decisions. Fast clinical work coexists with exhaustion and practical care; the January 2026 second season extends that ensemble rather than turning the hospital into a series of disconnected puzzles.
