Ronin (1998)

The Nice and Paris pursuits make ordinary-looking cars feel alarmingly large inside narrow streets. Jean-Claude Lagniez coordinated the driving for John Frankenheimer, using specialist drivers and rigs that could place actors convincingly inside the action. Low viewpoints and held approaches let you judge speed through the surroundings. The mercenary plot is chilly and deliberately elusive; the reward is driving staged as a tense negotiation with actual space.
