Nomadland (2021)

A film of enormous skies and very little financial room to manoeuvre. Chloé Zhao lets Fern's practical routines and encounters with real van-dwellers complicate the romance of the open road. Frances McDormand gives the wandering a private weight; the result is the year's most affecting meeting of landscape, work and grief.
