The Vertical Ray of the Sun (2000)

Three sisters and their partners move through a Hanoi summer in Trần Anh Hùng's ensemble drama. Domestic rituals and shared spaces give affection a sensual presence while leaving room for secrets and uncertainty. Less familiar than the director's earlier The Scent of Green Papaya, it rewards viewers drawn to the changing texture of established relationships.
