Scrublands (2023)

A reporter revisits a mass shooting in a drought-struck Australian town and discovers that the accepted explanation is too comfortable. The original investigation makes a strong choice for anyone interested in who controls a community's public story. Dryness and isolation bear on the mystery rather than simply decorating it.
