Broadchurch (2013)

The first series follows a child's murder through parents, classmates and neighbours whose ordinary familiarity becomes difficult to bear. Public suspicion has consequences before the inquiry reaches an answer. Olivia Colman's detective belongs to the community she is investigating, which makes procedural duty and personal knowledge painfully hard to separate. Child loss is the centre of the experience, not an incidental trigger.
